Teaching

I teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels focused on helping students become more confident and capable organizational members and leaders. My teaching integrates management and communication theories with opportunities for applied skill-building and various active learning strategies to help students write, speak, and relate more effectively, ethically, and strategically. I design courses across traditional, hybrid, and online modalities that reduce uncertainty, build resilience, and connect theory to the real world. My classroom is a safe space for students to expand their comfort zone alongside a supportive educator.

Innovative Course Designs

I design courses around sustained, applied learning structures that allow students to analyze real systems, practice communication skills, and connect theory to lived experience.

  • Organizational Behavior (MGMT 3020) features a semester-long service-learning project in which students #DoGood in their communities while applying organizational theory to analyze systems, stakeholder dynamics, and leadership challenges. Students engage in structured reflection to connect their lived experiences with foundational concepts in organizational behavior.

  • Leadership and Followership (MGMT 4520) incorporates a semester-long case study of Ted Lasso (Season One), using the series as a shared organizational context for applying and comparing leadership theories. This longitudinal case design enables students to examine group dynamics, power, identity, and ethical leadership across evolving situations.

  • Applied Managerial Communication (MGMT 3500) integrates experiential simulations in which students confront realistic workplace problems and use communication theory and practice to develop and implement solutions. These structured activities (including resume reviews, persuasive competitions, and collaborative problem-solving) are described in the videos below.

Pedagogical Advancements

I integrate evidence-based, high-impact teaching practices to increase accessibility, engagement, and skill development across modalities. I also aim to share resources with other professors, so they can improve students' educational experiences, too.
